Nissan is a little cash strapped, has a partnership with Mitsubishi, and has a hole in its lineup the exact size of a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (plug-in hybrid). So who could blame them for copying from one of the top plug-in hybrid SUVs in Canada even if they barely finished crossing out the Mitsubishi badge before sticking their own on.
Nissan calls the exterior design of the 2026 Rogue Plug-in Hybrid bold and premium, which must surely be a compliment to Mitsubishi’s design department. To be fair, it is an attractive shape and, in its lone trim, Platinum, it will come with 20-inch black painted wheels, black mirror caps, and black trim.
Inside, the Rogue Plug-in Hybrid gets a nine-inch infotainment screen with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch driver display, and a 10-inch head-up display. It also gets a Bose nine-speaker sound system, two USB ports in the front and two more in the back, as well as a pair of 120-volt and 1,500-watt power outlets.
Just like in the Outlander PHEV, Rogue Plug-in Hybrid drivers will have three rows of seats and up to 1,832 L of cargo capacity with the two rearmost rows folded down. The rear doors open up to 70-degrees to make entry and egress easier.
Under the hood, it’s pure Mitsubishi. The Rogue Plug-in Hybrid’s two electric motors are powered by a 20 kWh battery pack that offers up to 61 km of pure-electric driving, and can be recharged in as little as 7.5 hours at a Level 2 home charger.
The motors work together with a 2.4L four-cylinder engine to make a net 248 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. The SUV will send power to all four wheels and will be available with a one-pedal driving mode for those seeking ultimate efficiency. Nissan estimates that the 2026 Rogue Plug-in Hybrid will return 3.6 Le/100 km in combined driving.
It will also be available with Nissan’s suite of driver assistance features, Nissan Safety Shield 360. That includes safety tech like emergency braking, lane keeping, and rear cross-traffic alert, as well comfort technology like intelligent cruise control with ProPilot Assist, the automaker’s level 2 advanced driving assistance system.
The 2026 Nissan Rogue Plug-in Hybrid will reach Canadian dealerships in early 2026. Pricing will be revealed closer to the vehicle’s on-sale date.
