Summary
Honda’s “grand tourer” costs nearly as much as the Civic Type R.

The Honda Prelude is back! And in a move that's unlikely to surprise anyone who pays attention to Honda’s recent pricing practices, it ain’t cheap. Available in a single trim, the sporty coupe starts at $52,987 (including $1,830 delivery charge and other non-negotiable charges).

That’s very nearly as much as the Civic Type R cost in 2025, which may be a difficult pill to swallow. While the Prelude features suspension components from the high-performance Civic, it has two fewer doors and its powertrain has a 100 hp deficit — something enthusiasts are sure to notice.

However, the Prelude does feature hybrid technology, which should help buyers save a few pennies at the pump while the Honda S+ Shift technology will ensure that what power the Prelude does have (200 hp and 232 lb-ft of torque, for the record) is delivered snappily.

Brembo brakes (borrowed from the Civict Type R) should help it slow down quickly, and slightly softer suspension tuning will ensure that it is a more comfortable cruiser than its more powerful counterpart and its coupe looks will no doubt garner positive attention.

For their money, buyers will be treated to finest features Honda has to offer. Indeed, the single trim level comes with 19-inch black alloy wheels, a 10.2-inch instrument screen, a nine-inch infotainment system with Google Built-in, wireless phone mirroring, a Bose speaker system, Honda’s suite of safety technology, and more.

The 2026 Honda Prelude is set to arrive at Canadian dealerships later this month.
